Halloween was cold this year! The high of the day was 54 degrees, which we decided was too cold to let the ladybug walk around for her first trick or treating Halloween. She is just getting over a nasty cold and we thought the cool fall air and lack of sunshine would make Ava sicker instead of better.

Rapunzel and I went to our church this year. They had a Trunk or Treat event in the parking lot which included hot dogs, popcorn, face painting, and the blow up moon walks. Olivia was good about saying "trick or treat" but since all the cars were so close together, her "thank you" faded away. This was prime time for me to teach and reinforce her manners. If she couldn't remember to say "thank you" then we were just going to forget about trick or treating. Funny thing, she remembered "thank you" from then on. It became somewhat humorous because she would say "trick or treat" and they'd give her candy. Then she would scream "Thank you" and turn to me and say, "Mama did you hear my thank you? I don't want you to think that I'm forgot."

Face painting was her favorite part of the night. We stood in line for 45 minutes. Every couple of minutes we would look at the face painting sheet and she would change her mind. We went from a princess crown, to a butterfly, to a dolphin, to finally an IU face. Half of her face was red and the other was white with an IU symbol on her cheek. I have to say, I grew impatient in the line, and tried to talk her out of the face painting but she was bound and determined to get it done. Her persistence paid off but I was glad to be done with the line.

This week, we have really focused on getting Ava to use her words over just screaming for what she wants. This has been a challenge because both of us know what she wants when she is screaming but the household is ready to hear more talking and less whining. She has the basic words down but her frustration gets the best of her. Ava has always had an interpreter as a big sister so getting O to stop helping so much has been a challenge.

Ava is very curious little girl. We found her in our bedroom upstairs in a sea of white. We should have known something was going on when she was missing and quiet. Upon finding her, she was covered from head to toe in white. The floor had little white footprints in it, just as if it were snowing in the bedroom. There were tracks leading around the bed, to the nightstand, and little white fingerprints on the dresser handles. She came walking right to us and said "here" and handed us Daddy's Gold Bond Powder turned upside down. Needless to say, it was almost empty. We had a good laugh about it but no pictures to document this. The bedroom still has the gold bond smell.
